Question 2 - How does your media product represent particular social groups?

This post explains our decisions about representation for our opening and the rest of the film.

Click to zoom on our decisions about the basic representation, this diagram represents the process and influences we went through to come to our final idea.

The bigger issue with our representation in the whole film (click for synopsis), however, was that we were presenting teenagers committing cruel illegal acts of revenge - obviously not something we wanted to promote, we combatted this with the tearful recognition of their wrongdoings and the comedic justice with the police who come in at the end. We feel it worked more as a kind of satirisation of teen pressures to fit in nowadays. As Mean Girls used jungle metaphors to symbolise teen culture, we wanted to hyperbolise the impact of trends amongst teens and the need for independence whilst also wanting to fit in, using the revenge plot.
