To make sure of location was possible to use, as well as well suited to our opening, we did a location reccie. These photographs were taken in Ella's cellar. It was our original idea to shoot the majority of the party scene in here. Below we have explained why we decided not to.
We could not use this area because many objects were unmovable and they were not objects that we wanted in shot.
These shots depict some of the clutter, which while it was possible to move it, it would have been very time consuming, and we could better spend this time in other ways.
This is where we proposed to shoot most of the scene, mainly due to the alcove which could have created interesting shots. The boxes would have been quick to move
These shots show the stairway the protagonist would have walked up. However this would have been difficult because there is not much space.
The main factor for us deciding not to shoot here was the lack of space. This cellar was very thin, and although this could have created an interesting atmosphere, it would be difficult to fit many people down here. Moving the camera and actors would also have proved difficult. We have decided to use Alice's basement, because there is considerably less stuff too move, and more space allowing us more freedom when shooting/directing.
