Group Meeting 3 - Research and Planning

In this meeting we discussed chiefly the representation in our idea and divided up some research we needed to do.

We realised that we would be presenting a negative stereotype of teenagers being at a party, however we wanted to also incorporate representation of class, gender, sexuality and ethnicity. We are also presenting a very negative portrayal of drugs. To make sure these groups were met, we went over our list of actors to make sure we had a good balance if ethnicities and genders. We also considered the characters in our opening. We want the group of people to look varied so we can have a relatable representation of class and sexuality. We also decided our main character, although creepy, should be a strong independent female, to help appeal to our core target audience of 16-24 year old females.

The list of research is as follows:
  • Group research: we made a list of important media to watch as key influences for our research: Thirteen, Project X, Heathers, Trainspotting and Skins.
  • Alice: how will our opening appeal to our core and secondary audiences and looking at how credits are ordered.
  • Alicia: profiling our primary and secondary target audiences.
  • Ella: defining genre and film idea.
  • Rakhi: researching relevant media institutions.
